ZeroFin vs Zoho Books: which fits a UAE or Saudi business?

Zoho Books is the better choice if you need one system for Gulf compliance: it is an accredited UAE e-invoicing provider, it is in ZATCA's directory at Phase 2, it has Arabic, and it is free for small businesses. ZeroFin is narrower: an English-only AI bookkeeper and AI CFO for founders who want drafted entries they approve and plain-English answers on burn, runway and P&L, used alongside a compliant invoicing tool.

Where is Zoho Books stronger?

Zoho Books is stronger on everything a regulator will ask about. It can issue UAE e-invoices as an accredited provider, it is set up for ZATCA Phase 2 from its Standard plan, it files UAE VAT returns, and it works in Arabic. It also has a free plan for businesses under AED or SAR 200,000 of revenue, and paid plans with inventory, projects and multi-currency for growing companies.

Where is ZeroFin stronger?

ZeroFin is built around two jobs. First, bookkeeping by conversation: ZeroFin Mr. Accountant turns a sentence, a photo of a receipt, a PDF or a voice note into a draft entry, bill or invoice, and nothing posts until you approve it. Second, finance answers for founders: ZeroFin Mr. CFO answers questions such as "what was our burn last quarter?" or "how many months of runway do we have?" from your own ledger, on every plan. On the Growth plan and above, ZeroFin also sends daily, weekly and monthly briefings by email, and can rebuild past years from bank statements and ledger exports (PDF, Excel or CSV), which helps if your books are behind before a Corporate Tax or Zakat filing. Its paid plans start at $8 a month.

Choose Zoho Books if you…

  • need UAE e-invoicing or ZATCA Phase 2 from your accounting system
  • need Arabic invoices, records or an Arabic interface
  • want a free plan while revenue is under AED or SAR 200,000
  • need inventory, projects or multi-currency today

Choose ZeroFin if you…

  • want AI to draft entries from text, photos, PDFs or voice for you to approve
  • want plain-English answers on burn, runway and P&L from your books
  • need to rebuild past years from bank statements (Growth and up)
  • already issue invoices from a compliant tool and work in English

Can I use ZeroFin and Zoho Books together?

You can, but most small businesses should pick one. ZeroFin has no direct Zoho Books connection, so running both means keeping two ledgers, or exporting from Zoho Books and importing the files into ZeroFin on the Growth plan. That can make sense for a founder who keeps Zoho Books for compliant invoicing and wants ZeroFin Mr. CFO for management answers. If the duplicate work is not worth it, stay with Zoho Books.

Frequently asked questions

Is ZeroFin a Zoho Books alternative in the UAE?

Only for part of the job. ZeroFin covers AI bookkeeping and AI CFO answers in English, but it does not issue UAE e-invoices, file VAT returns or support Arabic, which Zoho Books does. Most UAE businesses that need compliance in one system should stay with Zoho Books.

Is Zoho Books free in the UAE and Saudi Arabia?

Zoho Books has a free plan that stays free while yearly revenue does not exceed AED 200,000 in the UAE or SAR 200,000 in Saudi Arabia, according to its pricing pages on 30 October 2026. Phase 2 e-invoicing in Saudi Arabia starts on the Standard plan.

Which is cheaper, ZeroFin or Zoho Books?

Zoho Books is cheaper for very small businesses because of its free plan. Among paid plans, ZeroFin Lite is $8 a month (about AED 29), and Zoho Books Standard is AED 60 a month billed yearly or AED 69 billed monthly.

Does Zoho Books have an AI CFO?

Zoho Books has Ask Zia, an assistant that answers questions about your data in plain English, and cash-flow forecasting and budgets on its Premium plan. ZeroFin Mr. CFO is focused on founder questions such as burn, runway and P&L, from your own ledger, on every plan.

Can I move from Zoho Books to ZeroFin?

There is no direct connection. On the Growth plan and above, you can import ledger exports and bank statements as PDF, Excel or CSV files, review the drafted entries and then post them.
