What works for UAE and Saudi companies today

Two limits to know before you start: your financial year can end in December or June today, and ZeroFin has no Arabic interface.

Is ZeroFin FTA-approved or ZATCA-compliant?

No. ZeroFin is not on any UAE or Saudi government list for accounting or e-invoicing software, and it does not issue UAE or Saudi e-invoices. This is where it stands as of the date at the top of this page:

A note on "approved" software

Neither list is a certification. The FTA's guidelines say a listing on its register is not an endorsement, and ZATCA says its directory is not an approval. Treat any vendor that calls itself "FTA-approved" or "ZATCA-certified" with care.

What are the e-invoicing deadlines?

In the UAE, most businesses must appoint an accredited e-invoicing provider by 31 March 2027 and go live by 1 July 2027. In Saudi Arabia, the last announced wave must connect to ZATCA's Fatoora platform by 1 February 2027.

A PDF is not an e-invoice

The UAE Ministry of Finance says PDFs, Word documents, images, scanned copies and emails are not e-invoices. From your go-live date, B2B and B2G invoices must be exchanged through an accredited provider.

How do I use ZeroFin alongside an e-invoicing provider?

You issue sales invoices from your e-invoicing provider and keep your books and management numbers in ZeroFin. ZeroFin does not connect to any e-invoicing provider yet, so moving invoices across is a manual step today.

  1. 1

    Pick a provider

Use the UAE Ministry of Finance list of accredited providers, or ZATCA's directory in Saudi Arabia. Some providers, such as EDICOM, Pagero, ClearTax and Cygnet, appear on both lists.

  2. 2

    Issue sales invoices there

Your provider handles the UAE exchange network or ZATCA clearance, the required fields and the Arabic text in Saudi Arabia.

  3. 3

    Record them in ZeroFin

Send the invoice to ZeroFin Mr. Accountant as a PDF or a short message. It drafts the entry with VAT on separate accounts, and you approve it.

  4. 4

Ask ZeroFin Mr. CFO about the numbers

Ask about cash, burn, runway, overdue receivables or your VAT balance, in plain English, in AED or SAR.

Where is my data stored?

ZeroFin is hosted in the United States, on Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. It is not hosted in the UAE or Saudi Arabia.

This matters most in Saudi Arabia. The VAT Implementing Regulations say records must be kept in the Kingdom, either physically or on a system that can be reached from there, and in Arabic. Keep your original invoices and records where your adviser says they need to be, and ask a Saudi adviser before you rely on any foreign-hosted system as your only record.

How much does ZeroFin cost in AED and SAR?

Plans start at $8 a month, about AED 29 or SAR 30. You are billed in US dollars; the AED and SAR figures are approximate, at the fixed US dollar pegs of 3.6725 and 3.75.
